the cheel - TEMPORARILY CEASING OPERATION EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Thiensville, Wisconsin – (March 23, 2020) – With a heavy heart, we have decided to temporarily cease our operation effective immediately until further notice.

Last week, we transitioned the cheel to-go and curbside service in order to provide food for our guests and in doing so allowing us to provide family meals for our employees. By the end of the week, we realized we needed to make another decision to purchase more inventories to keep doing so, or stretch out the funds and donations to ensure support our staff with health insurance.

Additionally, this is the best decision for us to ensure the health and safety of our staff and guests as we are not able to say with certainty that our staff will not be infected due to the lack of testing available.

With your support, we will do our best to ensure that “the cheel family” is able to put food on the table and are not losing health insurance as we know “health is wealth.”

Here are few options for you to help support the cheel family:

  • Support your favorite server(s) buy purchasing gift cards as they will make 20% of the sales. Just make sure to write their name: thecheel.com/shop/experience

  • Make a donation to our Support to Sustain Fundraiser while earning perks: thecheel.com/donate

The funds will be applied to prolong our team and their family with health benefits and help us be well positioned to reopen. All these efforts are to ensure that “the cheel family” can withstand this economic hardship that COVID-19 has brought.

The cheel has more than 30 employees and would like to do our very best to support them and their families as long as it is viable. We are offering medical benefits for as long as we can – please note that there is no government assistance available at this time for them or to us. We will be sharing our remaining food and supplies to our employees, so they can continue to feed themselves and their families.

We promise to keep you updated as things are changing constantly. We understand that everyone is going through the same situation we are. We all have to work together to get through this tough time and come out stronger. There are many other restaurants in the area still doing takeout or curbside or delivery. We encourage you to support them in any way you can. #SaferAtHome
